We follow the Gelang Patah old road (at Skudai highway, from JB town, turn left at the Tun Aminah interchange). Beware not to turn early at SJKC Kuo Kuong, go to the next one.
Drive all the way straight, about 20 minutes later, u will reach Lima Kedai, a small town, kampung baru style. You will see a sign board to Nusajaya / Kota Iskandar, then turn left.
On the way, noticed some housing development going on on the left.
Reached the first main roundabout of Nusajaya, 12 o'clock direction to Kota Iskandar, 3 o'clock direction to Nusajaya Centre, which is a site under UEM development, East Ledang project. Before reached Nusajaya Centre, we saw EduCity on our right. New Castle University is set to open next year. We can see the building structures and painting in progress.
Medini office is located opposite Nusajaya Centre. Medini is an area identified to be developed by 3 big middle east investors. Next to Nusajaya Centre, they are bulding a executive apartments, 22 floors, expected to complete in year 2012. The biggest unit cost about RM 419K. The developer told me that the investor are aiming at the students (for rental).
We then went to Kota Iskandar. No far, about 5 minutes drive. On the way, we noticed the Coastal Highway is under massive construction. I guess it still need 2 years time to complete. This highway is very important for future development of Nusajaya, a GREAT initiative!
At Kota Iskandar, we saw a few government buildings around, one of them is Dewan Negeri, a mosque, etc. NO area map found, so we are not sure what other buildings are. I checked their official website, no detail area plan or map found.
Then, we follow the Puteri Harbour sign board and reached the harbour. There is a nice whole stretch of sailing boats parking at the harbour. It made us feel that we are at oversea! A great view! It is a good initiative. But, it is a place that I will come 1 time and not other time.
Other development (resort next to the harbour) is not yet up to the mark, construction work just started. There is no other things we can do except the viewing the boats outside the gate. Why don't they arrange some cruise for visitors? There is a big piece of land, next to the seaside, it is a good place for outdoor activities, but it is not developed.
On their official website, I wanted to know the development millstones, I can only see some outdated pictures (with no date). It gives me a impression that there is no progress and plan!
On our way back to JB from Puteri Harbour, we lost and missed the exit to Second Link. NO proper sign boards for direction. End up we need to follow the old Gelang Patah road back.
In summary, it is still a good experience for my family to explore Nusajaya. Hope it will be a success project. Still the same advice: A Better Management Needed!
